International Insolvency & Restructuring Symposium & Cross-Border Insolvency Program

November 17-19 | Online

Join us for a three-day international event bringing together, once again, ABI’s International Insolvency & Restructuring Symposium partners — American College of Bankruptcy, International Insolvency Institute (III), TMA Europe, INSOL and IWIRC — and ABI’s annual Cross-Border Insolvency Program.

Presented on ABI's innovative platform, sessions will include the annual "America Now" update with U.S. bankruptcy judges from key jurisdictions, a "Far East" update and a session on what to expect in 2022, all without crossing time zones.

If you’ve never been able to experience the international program, which moves around Europe to great places like London, Paris, Berlin and Rome, or if you’re looking for the latest in cross-border insolvency updates, you can find it all here — along with light-hearted networking opportunities.

“See” you in November!

How Do Organizations (Even in a Crisis) Benefit from ESG?

    Panel Presented by TMA Europe

At the heart of ESG (environment, social and governance) investing is the simple idea that companies are more likely to succeed and deliver strong returns if they create value for all of their stakeholders, not just the company's shareholders. Is there an issue with turnaround and the lens it uses? Is this an opportunity that is being missed at the peril of stakeholders, company financial performance and directors' fiduciary duties? Finally, will legislation change the rules of the game — or can we do it ourselves?

A Worldwide View on Commercial Real Estate Post-COVID

    Presented by IWIRC

This panel will discuss the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on commercial real estate in various jurisdictions throughout the world, including its effects on legislation, insolvency proceedings and out-of-court workouts.

  • Comparative Analysis of Centralized vs. Decentralized Cross-Border Proceedings

Presented by the Cross-Border Insolvency Program

This panel will present a comparison of the differences between centralized cross-border proceedings, where there is a main proceeding with related ancillary proceedings in other countries that are controlled by the same management and professionals (e.g., the recent airline cases of LATAM, Avianca and Philippine), and decentralized cross-border proceedings, where related entities in different jurisdictions have independent proceedings run by separate management and professionals (e.g., Greensill Capital). The panelists will also discuss factors that could lead to a centralized vs. decentralized cross-border proceeding, and the different challenges each one presents.
