ABI RELEASES COMPREHENSIVE COMMERCIAL FRAUD MANUAL

January 21, 2010 Alexandria, Va. — The American Bankruptcy Institute has released Commercial Fraud Manual, which provides the framework and vocabulary necessary to understand, confront and defeat commercial fraud issues. A special project of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Commercial Fraud Task Force, the Manual was written by Eugene S. Becker of Becker Law, Margaret Daley of Duff & Phelps, LLC, Daniel F. Dooley of MorrisAnderson & Associates, Ltd., Michael Goldman of Michael Goldman & Associates, LLC, Richard S. Lauter of Freeborn & Peters LLP, David P. Leibowitz of the Lakelaw/Leibowitz Law Center and Eric S. Rein of Dykema Gossett PLLC. The Manual explains different types of fraud, the mechanics of forensic investigations and computer forensics, the legal response to fraud and international fraud remedies, concluding with a discussion of the major fraud cases in 2009.
