ABI WEBINAR TO EXPLORE NEW PENSION LAW

August 30, 2006, Alexandria, Va. — To highlight changes from the new pension law affecting the practice of insolvency professionals, the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) will hold a “New Pension Law for Bankruptcy Attorneys and Turnaround Managers” Webinar on Oct. 3 from 3 – 4:30 p.m. ET. This unique Webinar gives bankruptcy attorneys and turnaround specialists the opportunity to learn about the most important aspects of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (Public Law No: 109-280) that are relevant to their respective practices.

The New Pension Law Webinar will feature a distinguished panel of speakers including:

  • John Hanley, the Pension Benefits Guaranty Corp.’s (PBGC) Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs (Washington, D.C.), who will review the PBGC’s schedule for implementing rules and regulations.

  • Michael B. Cox, currently Managing Director of the Seabury Group/Seabury Transportation (New York), who will examine airline pension reform. He has more than 20 years of experience in the airline industry, including the successful reorganization efforts at US Airways and Air Canada.

  • Carol Connor Flowe of Arent Fox PLLC (Washington, D.C.), who has more than 25 years of experience in pensions and bankruptcy, including six years as the PGBC’s General Counsel.

  • John Tittle, Jr., Director of LECG, LLC (Dallas), who has more than 25 years of bankruptcy advisory, restructuring and financial consulting practice in industry sectors including retail, Internet, insurance and construction.

The interactive format for the New Pension Law Webinar format will enable participants to listen to the speakers while simultaneously accessing program materials on the Web.  The speakers will also be available to answer questions by phone during the program. CLE credit will be available in states that permit distance learning.
