ABI’S SECOND INTERNATIONAL INSOLVENCY SYMPOSIUM FEATURES AIRLINE, AUTOMOTIVE AND RETAIL INDUSTRY EXPERTS ADDRESSING GLOBAL INSOLVENCY PROBLEMS

July 10, 2006, Alexandria, Va. — The American Bankruptcy Institute will hold its Second Annual International Insolvency Conference on Sept. 8, 2006, at the Savoy Hotel in London. Top presenters from both sides of the Atlantic will handle various international insolvency topics. The keynote speaker is Tony Blankley, syndicated political columnist and author of The West’s Last Chance: Will We Win the Clash of Civilizations? Up to 6.0 CLE/CPE credits are available. The Symposium chair is ABI International Committee Co-Chair Ian G. Williams of Geldards LLP (Nottingham, U.K.).

Timely topics for the panel sessions include:

“Chapter 15, the Model Law and the Statutory Instrument: Chapter 15 vs. Sec. 304” will be moderated by Howard Seife of Chadbourne & Parke, LLP (New York) and joined by panelists Bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain (New York), Ken Coleman of Allen & Overy (New York), Robert Elliott of Linklaters (London), Gareth Hughes of Ernst & Young (London) and Prof. Bob Wessels of the Vrije Universiteit (Amsterdam, Holland).

Lynn Hiestand of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom (London) is moderating “International Insolvencies – The European Approach: How Will Greater Europe Respond to Developments in the U.S. and U.K.?” which will include panelists Lars Westpfahl of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Hamburg Germany), Helen Lee of Alvarez & Marsal LLC (Paris), Annerose Tashiro of Schultze & Braun (Achern, Germany) and Alain Le Berre of Close Brothers Corporate Finance (London).

'Sector Specialists – Automotive: The U.S. Automotive Industry in Crisis and the ‘Knock On’ Effect for Europe” will be moderated by Lyndon Norley of Kirkland & Ellis (London) and include panelists Simon Appell of Kroll (London), Christopher Schindler of BBK (Frankfurt, Germany) and Kimberley Rodriguez of Stout Risius Ross (Farmington Hills, Mich.).

Mick McLoughlin of KPMG (London) will moderate 'Sector Specialists – Retail: Is the Rise of the Internet the Total Demise of Retail as We Know It?' with panelists Martin Crossley of King Surge LLP (London) and Andrew Meehan of Gordon Brothers (London).

Ronald J. Silverman of Bingham McCutchen (New York) will moderate 'Sector Specialists – Aviation: Does Chapter 11 Give U.S.-based Airlines an Unfair Advantage?” featuring panelists Bob Hecht of Alix Partners (London) and James Feltman of Mesirow Financial Services (New York).
