ABI’S THIRD INTERNATIONAL INSOLVENCY SYMPOSIUM FEATURES AUTOMOTIVE AND HEDGE FUND INDUSTRY EXPERTS WITH A GERMAN PERSPECTIVE

July 17, 2006, Alexandria, Va. — The American Bankruptcy Institute will hold its Third Annual International Insolvency Symposium on Oct. 26, 2007, at The Adlon Hotel in Berlin. Top presenters from both sides of the Atlantic will handle various international insolvency topics. The keynote speaker is current INSOL President Robert O. Sanderson of KPMG LLP (Toronto). The Symposium chair is ABI Board Member Ian G. Williams of Geldards LLP (Nottingham, U.K.).

Timely topics for the panel sessions include:

The “Germany Calling: Tips for German Practitioners” session will be moderated by Dr. Christof Schiller of Wellensiek (Heidelberg) and included panelists Dr. Eberhard Braun of Schulte & Braun GmbH (Achern), James L. Garrity Jr. of Shearman & Sterling; (New York), Dr. Martin Prager of Pluta Rechtsanwalts GmbH (Munich) and Deborah D. Williamson of Cox Smith Matthews Inc. (San Antonio).

Dr. Joachim Englert of PricewaterhouseCoopers (Frankfurt) will moderate “The Automotive Industry: The Problems Continue–The German Perspective” session with panelists Jen Alsleben of Strategic Value Parnters (Frankfurt), Wilhelm Becker of BMW (Munich), Matthias Gotz of Kaye Scholer LLP (Frankfurt) and Paul Melville of Grant Thornton LLP (Southfield, Mich.).

“Financing the Future: Hedge Funds–the Facts and the Fiction” will be moderated by  Dr. Lars Westpfahl of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Hamburg) and feature panelists Paul Salama-Caro of Silver Point Capital (London), Hermann Dambach of Oaktree GmbH (Frankfurt) and Tim van Delden of Avenue Capital (London).

Keith J. Shapiro of Greenberg Traurig (Chicago) will moderate the “America Now!” session, looking at current trends in U.S. insolvencies and restructurings, with panelists Robert N. Dangremond of AlixPartners LLC (London), Henry S. Miller of Miller Buckfire & Co. LLC (New York) and Prof. G. Ray Warner of St. John’s University School of Law and of Counsel, Greenberg Taurig, LLP (New York).
