ABI’S WEEKLY PODCAST FEATURES INTERESTING GUESTS AND CONVERSATIONS ON BANKRUPTCY

MARCH 16, 2006, Alexandria, Va. —The American Bankruptcy Institute has just launched the first in a series of podcast chats with ABI’s Resident Scholar, Prof. Jack Ayer. The podcasts are on the ABI World Web site available for free in both streaming media and MP3 formats.

The first podcast features a conversation between Prof. Ayer and Richard B. Levin of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, who talks about his work as a scrivener of the 1978 Code and how bankruptcy has changed since then. Upcoming guests include Judge Thomas Waldron (S.D. Ohio) discussing the new law, David Yen, a legal aid lawyer in Chicago who represents many indigent debtors and Robin Weiner, a Chapter 13 trustee from Florida.

ABI World provides listeners the flexibility to enjoy the podcast from a computer or to download to their digital audio player for listening on the go. A new podcast will be available each week on ABI World featuring a prominent figure in bankruptcy law with Prof. Ayer.

Prof. Ayer is ABI's current Robert M. Zinman Resident Scholar, a program supported by the ABI Endowment Fund named in honor of Prof. Robert M. Zinman, a former ABI president and chair of ABI's Board of Directors. Each Zinman scholar is a leading member of the academic community on leave from full-time teaching to assist ABI in research and educational activities. Prof. Ayer, a former bankruptcy judge, is a visiting professor this year at New York University Law School. He has lectured widely on issues of business insolvency and on the ethics of lawyers. Before becoming a lawyer, he was a newspaper reporter and a Washington, D.C., correspondent.
