Brad M. Kahn of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP Selected as One of ABI's 2022 "40 Under 40"

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Brad M. Kahn of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP (New York) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on Dec. 9 at ABI’s 2022 Winter Leadership Conference at the La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, Calif.

Kahn is a partner in the financial restructuring practice at Akin Gump, where he represents companies, creditors’ committees and ad hoc groups, investors, funds and major lenders in out-of-court restructurings and in-court proceedings, including multijurisdictional and cross-border matters. His experience spans a broad spectrum of industries, including energy, telecommunications, financial services, transportation, technology and media. Kahn is recognized as a “Recommended” restructuring lawyer by Legal 500 (2022), an “Outstanding Young Bankruptcy Lawyer” by Turnarounds & Workouts (2019) and a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers (2016-2018). He was a member of the New York office’s Hiring Committee from 2012-20, and today is an assigning partner for the firm’s summer associates. Kahn was a key driver in the establishment of Akin Gump’s Financial Restructuring Diversity Scholars program (FRDS), which gives law students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds the opportunity to join the firm’s summer associate program after their first year of law school and to receive direct mentorship from the firm’s restructuring lawyers. He received his J.D. in 2007 from the New York University School of Law and his B.A. in 2004 from Yale University.

“The 2022 honorees continually display the acumen, energy and passion in both their careers and communities to demonstrate that they are the future leaders of the insolvency profession,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “This year’s class, like those in years past, brings together a widely diverse collection of young leaders who we fully expect will propel ABI and the insolvency community forward.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Now in its sixth year, the goal of ABI’s “40 under 40” initiative is not simply to create a one-time ceremony, but to fully engage those selected as future leaders in the insolvency profession and to build on the initiative each year.
