Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Edward E. Neiger of ASK LLP (New York) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. Honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony during ABI’s 2019 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 5-7 at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Neiger is a managing partner at ASK LLP in New York and previously was a founding partner of Neiger LLP, a full-service bankruptcy and corporate law firm. At Neiger LLP, he represented clients in bankruptcy cases such as Lehman Brothers, American Airlines and General Motors. Prior to Neiger LLP, Neiger was an attorney in the Business, Finance & Restructuring department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he worked on behalf of such debtors as Enron, Worldcom, Global Crossing, Atkins, Parmalat and Vertis.

Neiger is committed to giving back to the community, and while in law school he assisted victims of domestic violence, for which he was awarded the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award in recognition of his efforts. Neiger has been actively involved in various organizations that provide legal services to those in need on a pro bono basis, including defending low-income tenants in eviction proceedings and helping Holocaust survivors recover monetary damages from the German government. He also worked with the Bankruptcy Assistance Project in helping low-income individuals file chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions, and was presented with awards recognizing its work in 2009 by several New York area bankruptcy judges.

Neiger also regularly lectures on bankruptcy law and preference actions. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. summa cum laude from Touro College.

“This 2019 class of honorees is incredibly accomplished and diverse, and well representative of the multidisciplinary nature of our community,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “We look forward to engaging these young leaders in the full range of ABI's activities, in service to the profession.”
