Gordon Gouveia of Fox Rothschild LLP Selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40”

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Gordon Gouveia of Fox Rothschild LLP (Chicago) has been selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40,” recognizing 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. This year’s awardees will be formally recognized at ABI’s 2018 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 6-8 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Gouveia is a partner with Fox Rothschild LLP and has a diverse business bankruptcy practice focused on representing chapter 11 debtors and chapter 7 trustees. He also handles complex litigation involving debtors’ and creditors’ rights, fiduciary matters and contract disputes.

Gouveia has practiced extensively in Illinois state and federal courts and in bankruptcy courts nationwide, and he recently co-chaired the Liaison Committee for the Northern District of Illinois Bankruptcy Court. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, Turnaround Management Association and Chicago Bar Association, and he has published articles in the ABI Journal and the Norton Journal of Bankruptcy Law and Practice.

Gouveia previously was a member with Chicago bankruptcy and litigation boutique Shaw Fishman Glantz & Towbin LLC prior to its merger with Fox Rothschild, starting there in 2005 as an associate. Prior to that, he clerked for now-retired Bankruptcy Judge and ABI Immediate Past-President Eugene R. Wedoff in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Gouveia received his undergraduate degree summa cum laude in political science from Boston College in 2001 and his J.D. in 2004 from Vanderbilt Law School. He is the proud father of four children and enjoys coaching youth sports.

“The 2018 ABI ‘40 Under 40’ Class is already advancing the bankruptcy profession forward,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “Each of these remarkable young men and women are attaining achievements not just in their professional careers, but also as leaders in their communities.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted via the initiative’s website, through which professionals nominated themselves or a colleague. Membership in ABI was not required, and more than 200 candidates were evaluated. Those selected were chosen from both large and small firms from every region of the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, accounting, consulting, academia, government and more.
