Hot Issues in Claims Trading Focus of Half-Day ABI Program in New York on Oct. 30

Alexandria, Va. — ABI’s Business Reorganization Committee and St. John’s University School of Law will hold a Claims-Trading Program at St. John’s University School of Law’s Manhattan Campus on Oct. 30. Over the last decade, claims-trading has become increasingly popular with hedge funds and other investors as an active or passive investment vehicle. In recent years, such cases as Enron, Delphi and KB Toys, as well as the amendments to Bankruptcy Rule 2019, have made claims-trading and secondary debt purchases the focus of hotly contested litigation. ABI’s Business Reorganization Committee is bringing the foremost experts in the industry to the St. John’s Manhattan Campus for an in-depth discussion on the risks of claims-trading, as well as the litigation tactics that are available to protect creditors. Attendees will have the opportunity to earn 3/3.5 hours of CLE/CPE credit, and a networking lunch will immediately follow the program. Sessions at the program include: - Claims-Trading Risks Such as Disallowance and Vote Designation - Litigation Tactics to Protect Creditor Positions in Distressed Companies For a full list of session speakers, please visit http://www.abiworld.org/CTP14/schedule.html For more information on ABI’s Claims-Trading Program, please be sure to visit http://www.abiworld.org/CTP14/.
