JONATHAN P. FRIEDLAND ELECTED TO ABI’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

May 3, 2006, Alexandria, Va. The American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) announces that Jonathan P. Friedland of Kirkland & Ellis LLP (Chicago) has been elected to ABI’s Board of Directors. An active member since 1995, Friedland participates on the Advisory Board for ABI’s Law Review and is a contributing editor to theABI Journal. He will serve a term of three years on the 60-member ABI Board of Directors.

A partner in Kirkland & Ellis’ Restructuring Group, Friedland concentrates his practice on financial and operational restructurings, including out-of-court workouts and chapter 11 reorganizations and representation of buyers and sellers of distressed assets. In 2005, Friedland was selected as an “Illinois Super Lawyer” by Chicago Magazine. He received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1994 and his B.S. with highest honors in 1991 from the State University of New York at Albany.
