Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Kimberly A. Brown of Landis Rath & Cobb LLP (Wilmington, Del.) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. Honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony during ABI’s 2019 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 5-7 at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Brown is a senior associate at Landis Rath & Cobb LLP in Wilmington, Del., where she concentrates her practice in the areas of corporate bankruptcy and restructuring and bankruptcy litigation. She has worked with teams representing chapter 11 debtors, official and unofficial committees, financial institutions, secured lenders and other secured creditors, indenture trustees and bondholders, asset-purchasers, liquidation trusts and other significant creditors, chapter 15 foreign representatives, and other parties in interest in a variety of international and national bankruptcy cases. Brown represents clients in a wide range of industries, including retail, food and beverage, oil and gas, and manufacturing.

In 2018, Brown was named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star,” a recognition awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in any given state under 40 who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Additionally, in the fall of 2017, she was named one of five finalists for the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation’s (IWIRC) “Rising Star” award.

Brown mentors law students through the Delaware Law School Alumni Network Mentoring Program, providing guidance on a wide range of issues, including how to succeed in law school, prepare for the legal practice and build a personal brand for professional success. She also is a Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) volunteer, through which she teaches basic financial literacy to members of her local community. Brown earned her J.D. in 2008 from Widener University Delaware Law School and her B.A. in government and politics, with a minor in accounting, from Widener University in 2005.

“This 2019 class of honorees is incredibly accomplished and diverse, and well representative of the multidisciplinary nature of our community,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “We look forward to engaging these young leaders in the full range of ABI's activities, in service to the profession.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership.
