Kristina Stanger of Nyemaster Goode, P.C. Selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40”

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Kristina Stanger of Nyemaster Goode, P.C. (Des Moines, Iowa) has been selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40,” recognizing 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. This year’s awardees will be formally recognized at ABI’s 2018 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 6-8 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Stanger is an attorney and shareholder with Nyemaster Goode, P.C., where she focuses her practice on creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. Her experience spans such industries as retail, grocery, agriculture, health care, construction, transportation and manufacturing. She appears in both federal and state courts for secured and unsecured creditors in a variety of contexts.

In addition to her legal practice, Stanger is a combat-experienced Lieutenant Colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard and a 2017 AMEDD Iron Major. She has served more than 20 years as an enlisted soldier, commander and planner for state, national and international operations. She now serves as one of the state’s highest-ranking females and is the Chief of Plans and Operations for the Iowa Army National Guard.

Stanger’s upbringing off the gravel roads of rural Iowa and her military experience helped develop her work ethic, which led to her success as an experienced commercial litigator at Iowa’s largest law firm. In addition, she has held a number of committee positions with the Iowa State Bar Association, is an author and speaker on bankruptcy and commercial law topics, and provides pro bono services on behalf of veterans and their families. Stanger is also member of ABI’s Veterans’ Affairs Task Force.

Stanger is a graduate of Drake University Law School and is the school’s Recent Alumna of the Year. She also was a member of the 2016 Next Generation Class for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ) and is a member of IWIRC.

“The 2018 ABI ‘40 Under 40’ Class is already advancing the bankruptcy profession forward,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “Each of these remarkable young men and women are attaining achievements not just in their professional careers, but also as leaders in their communities.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted via the initiative’s website, through which professionals nominated themselves or a colleague. Membership in ABI was not required, and more than 200 candidates were evaluated. Those selected were chosen from both large and small firms from every region of the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, accounting, consulting, academia, government and more.
