Megan W. Murray of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Selected as One of ABI’s 2019 “40 Under 40”

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Megan W. Murray of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney (Tampa, Fla.) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. Honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony during ABI’s 2019 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 5-7 at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Murray is an associate at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney in Tampa, Fla., where she represents secured and unsecured creditors, corporations, business owners, goods providers, landlords, tenants and bankruptcy trustees in resolving contract disputes, insolvency and collection proceedings, commercial mortgage workouts and restructurings, asset-based and non-asset-based lending disputes of all types, real property and leasing transactions. In 2019, she was named to the Florida Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list, and was also was named among Florida Trend’s 2019 Florida Legal Elite and Up & Comers lists.

Prior to joining Buchanan, Murray practiced commercial litigation, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights and insolvency, and real estate and lending transactions at a well-known Tampa Bay law firm. She previously clerked for Hon. Karen S. Jennemann, Chief Judge of the Middle District of Florida Bankruptcy Court, and served as a judicial extern for Hon. Judge Thad Collins of the Northern District of Iowa Bankruptcy Court and as a judicial intern for Hon. Judge Jeff Bohm of the Southern District of Texas Bankruptcy Court.

Murray is a frequent author and presenter on issues relating to bankruptcy, reorganization, creditors’ rights, commercial real estate, Uniform Commercial Code and collection issues. She received her J.D. with honors from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2011 and her B.B.A. with honors from University of Iowa Tippie College of Business in 2002.

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted via the initiative’s website, through which professionals nominated themselves or a colleague. Membership in ABI was not required, and more than 350 candidates were evaluated. Those selected were chosen from both large and small firms from every region of the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, accounting, consulting, academia, government and more.
