Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Nicole Grimal Helmstetter of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC (Miami) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on Dec. 9 at ABI’s 2022 Winter Leadership Conference at the La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, Calif.

Helmstetter is counsel with Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, focusing exclusively on bankruptcy, business restructuring and creditors’ rights. With a unique perspective from experience on all sides of bankruptcy cases, she works with creditors, debtors, fiduciaries, trustees, creditors’ committees, restructuring officers and all other parties involved in insolvency proceedings. Helmstetter is currently a committee chairperson with her local bankruptcy bar, after having previously served multiple terms as the Miami Brown Bag chairperson and as the Pro Se Clinic chairperson. She remains active in her memberships with ABI, the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, and many other professional organizations. Continuing to prioritize her community and recognizing her roots, Helmstetter has mentored law students through other Bankruptcy Clinic programs and regularly engages in pro bono work representing Spanish-speaking individuals. She received her J.D. in 2010 from the Florida International University College of Law and her B.A. cum laude in international relations in 2006 from Florida International University.

“The 2022 honorees continually display the acumen, energy and passion in both their careers and communities to demonstrate that they are the future leaders of the insolvency profession,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “This year’s class, like those in years past, brings together a widely diverse collection of young leaders who we fully expect will propel ABI and the insolvency community forward.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Now in its sixth year, the goal of ABI’s “40 under 40” initiative is not simply to create a one-time ceremony, but to fully engage those selected as future leaders in the insolvency profession and to build on the initiative each year.
