Race and Bankruptcy, Student Loans and Marijuana Industry Among Top Consumer Topics to Be Covered at the Hon. Steven W. Rhodes Consumer Bankruptcy Conference in Detroit on Nov. 12

Alexandria, Va. — Detroit-area practitioners will have the opportunity to examine current issues affecting consumer bankruptcy debtors and creditors at the American Bankruptcy Institute’s (ABI) Hon. Steven W. Rhodes Consumer Bankruptcy Conference on Nov. 12 (Veteran’s Day) at the Somerset Inn in Troy, Mich. This one-day program tackles current issues such as bias, student loans and marijuana, while also offering skills-based sessions on appeals and financial literacy. Faculty members include experienced local chapter 7 and 13 consumer attorneys, bankruptcy judges and panel trustees from around Michigan. The judicial chair of the conference, cosponsored by the Consumer Bankruptcy Association of the Eastern District of Michigan, is Chief Bankruptcy Judge Phillip J. Shefferly (E.D. Mich.; Detroit) with co-chair Bankruptcy Mark A. Randon (E.D. Mich.; Detroit). The conference chair is consumer practitioner Michael P. Hogan of Schneiderman & Sherman, P.C. (Farmington Hills, Mich.).
