Tim McDonagh of FTI Consulting Selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40”

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Tim McDonagh of FTI Consulting (New York) has been selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40,” recognizing 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. This year’s awardees will be formally recognized at ABI’s 2018 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 6-8 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz.

McDonagh is a senior managing director with FTI Consulting and focuses on turnarounds and restructurings in corporate finance practice. He specializes in serving as a trusted advisor to C-suites and boards of directors in complex, high-stake turnarounds. Many of his engagements have won multiple awards from the Turnaround Management Association, M&A Advisor, Association of Management Consulting Firms and others.

Recently, McDonagh served as overall engagement lead to Southeastern Grocers, a precedent-setting pre-packaged bankruptcy that implemented critical changes to the business with minimal disruption. His other representative clients include Aeropostale, RadioShack, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Residential Capital, Vertis Communications, a $6 billion media company, The Puerto Rico Electrical Power Authority, CIT Group, Eastman Kodak Co., The Children’s Place, Delphi Corp. and Circuit City.

Previously, McDonagh served in the U.S. Peace Corps. He holds a B.A. in economics and mathematics from Yale University and is a CTP.

“The 2018 ABI ‘40 Under 40’ Class is already advancing the bankruptcy profession forward,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “Each of these remarkable young men and women are attaining achievements not just in their professional careers, but also as leaders in their communities.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted via the initiative’s website, through which professionals nominated themselves or a colleague. Membership in ABI was not required, and more than 200 candidates were evaluated. Those selected were chosen from both large and small firms from every region of the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, accounting, consulting, academia, government and more.
