Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Adam Prescott of Bernstein Shur Sawyer & Nelson, PA (Portland, Maine) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s award program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on Dec. 1 at ABI’s 2023 Winter Leadership Conference at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Prescott is a shareholder with Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, PA and represents businesses and individuals in bankruptcy, out-of-court restructurings and other complex transactional and litigation cases, with an emphasis on chapter 11 matters. He has represented chapter 11 debtors and post-confirmation trustees in cases filed in numerous jurisdictions, including recent matters in bankruptcy courts in Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont and Delaware. Prescott’s chapter 11 practice includes representing businesses in a diverse array of industries, such as health care, manufacturing, transportation, energy, real estate development, hospitality and retail, and he has represented numerous small business debtors in successfully reorganizing under the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019 (SBRA). He is a frequent contributor to the national and local discourse regarding bankruptcy law and practice, especially recent developments under the SBRA.

Prescott is also a member of the Maine Bar Association. Within his firm, he mentors associates across multiple practice groups and has run the firm’s summer associate writing program for the past several years. Prescott also maintains an active pro bono practice, including a recent complex, multi-year restructuring matter for a Maine and New Hampshire agricultural business.

“The members of the 2023 class are an inspiration for the commitment, creativity and ingenuity that they demonstrate in both their careers and communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “This diverse collection of honorees is comprised of future leaders that will drive ABI and the insolvency community forward.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Now in its seventh year, the goal of ABI’s “40 under 40” award program is not simply to create a one-time ceremony, but to fully engage those selected as future leaders in the insolvency profession and to build on the initiative each year.
