Christopher DiPompeo of Jones Day Selected as One of ABI's 2020 "40 Under 40"

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Christopher DiPompeo of Jones Day (Washington, D.C.) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. Honorees will be recognized at a special virtual ceremony on February 18, 2021.

DiPompeo's practice focuses on complex litigation and appellate advocacy in the context of business restructurings and chapter 11 bankruptcies. He has significant experience across a variety of industries, including financial services, government contracts, gaming and municipal government. DiPompeo regularly counsels clients in connection with issues relating to bankruptcy jurisdiction and venue, the automatic stay, post-petition financing and complex commercial contracts. In 2013 and 2014, he was a member of the Jones Day team representing the City of Detroit, Michigan in its historic chapter 9 bankruptcy case. DiPompeo played a significant role in many aspects of the chapter 9 case, including litigation over the city's eligibility for bankruptcy, its request to obtain post-petition financing, and confirmation of its plan of adjustment. Most recently, DiPompeo has represented major creditors of Energy Future Holdings Corp., Caesars Entertainment Operating Company, General Motors and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He was named a 2019 D.C. Rising Star by The National Law Journal and a "Rising Star" by Washington D.C. Super Lawyers (2016-20). DiPompeo received his J.D. summa cum laude in 2009 from the University of Pennsylvania and his B.A. in economics magna cum laude in 2004 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

“Accomplished in both their careers and communities, the 2020 class of honorees is an inspiration for the future of the insolvency community,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “We look forward to collaborating with this diverse collection of young leaders in the full range of ABI's activities to advance the profession.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
