Jennifer Marines of Morrison & Foerster Selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40”

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Jennifer Marines of Morrison & Foerster LLP (New York) has been selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40,” recognizing 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. This year’s awardees will be formally recognized at ABI’s 2018 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 6-8 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Marines is a partner in the Business Restructuring & Insolvency Group of Morrison & Foerster LLP and deputy chair of the firm’s finance department. She has experience representing chapter 11 debtors, creditors, investors and other parties in interest in all aspects of complex corporate restructurings, including chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings and distressed acquisitions. Her practice includes advising senior management and boards of directors of financially troubled companies with respect to restructuring and business operations in chapter 11; advising official committees of creditors with respect to restructuring strategies; negotiating and structuring financings and other commercial transactions; and advising clients seeking to purchase businesses and related assets out of chapter 11 proceedings.

Marines is a member of the New York City Bar’s Bankruptcy & Corporate Reorganization Committee and chairs its Women in Law subcommittee. She is also a member of the International Insolvency Institute’s NextGen Leadership Program, a board member of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum, a member of the Turnaround Management Association’s NextGen Committee, and a member of the steering committee of the Zaretsky Roundtable Program.

Marines previously clerked for Hon. Robert D. Drain of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. She received her B.A. in 2002 from Williams College and her J.D. cum laude from Brooklyn Law School in 2005.

“The 2018 ABI ‘40 Under 40’ Class is already advancing the bankruptcy profession forward,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “Each of these remarkable young men and women are attaining achievements not just in their professional careers, but also as leaders in their communities.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted via the initiative’s website, through which professionals nominated themselves or a colleague. Membership in ABI was not required, and more than 200 candidates were evaluated. Those selected were chosen from both large and small firms from every region of the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, accounting, consulting, academia, government and more.
