Michael Balistreri of Alvarez & Marsal Selected as One of ABI’s 2019 “40 Under 40”

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Michael Balistreri of Alvarez & Marsal (New York) has been selected as on of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. Honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony during ABI’s 2019 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 5-7 at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Balistreri is a managing director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Finance practice in New York. He specializes in providing investment banking and financial advisory services on behalf of corporations, creditors and shareholders across all industry lines in growth, storied, complex, distressed and special situations. Balistreri’s extensive transaction experience includes financial restructurings, recapitalizations, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, and debt and equity financings. He currently serves as a corporate officer on the Board of Directors for The Institute for Community Living (ICL), an award-winning nonprofit organization that provides integrated housing and health care for over 10,000 people annually in New York. Balistreri is treasurer and chair of the organization’s Finance & Investment Committee and a member of its Executive Compensation Committee. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in economics from New York University and holds Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 24 (General Securities Principal) and Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law) licenses from FINRA.

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted via the initiative’s website, through which professionals nominated themselves or a colleague. Membership in ABI was not required, and more than 350 candidates were evaluated. Those selected were chosen from both large and small firms from every region of the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, accounting, consulting, academia, government and more.
