Alexandria, Va. — A team of students from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania took top honors for the fourth consecutive year at ABI’s 15^th Annual Corporate Restructuring Competition. The Wharton School bested six other business schools at the competition, which was held on Nov. 9 at the Gleacher Center at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. This is the school’s eighth time overall to receive the Bettina M. White Trophy, which is presented each year to the winning team. Students were given just a week to solve a hypothetical complex case and present their proposed solutions to judges representing key industry stakeholders.

A team from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business came in second place, while another team from The Wharton School took third. ABI’s Anthony H.N. Schnelling Endowment Fund provided cash prizes of $6,000, $3,500 and $2,500 for the top three teams, respectively. Other schools competing this year were Columbia Business School, Cornell University SC Johnson College of Business, Michigan State University Eli Broad College of Business, New York University Stern School of Business and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

In addition to the case presentations, the competition concluded with awards and a cocktail reception following the final round of the competition. Will Sudgen (Alston & Bird LLP) served as the chair of the Corporate Restructuring Competition.
