ABI BRIEFING ON CAPITOL HILL TO FEATURE BANKRUPTCY JUDGE ADDRESSING PENSION ISSUES IN BANKRUPTCY

June 9, 2006 Alexandria, Va. With congressional conferees continuing to work on pension reform legislation, the American Bankruptcy Institute will hold a briefing on pension issues in bankruptcy on June 12, 2006 at noon on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The briefing will feature Bankruptcy Judge Eugene Wedoff, Chief Judge of the Northern District of Illinois and presiding judge over the United Airlines bankruptcy case, speaking on pension issues that arise in large corporate bankruptcies. Judge Wedoff has served as a bankruptcy judge for the Northern District of Illinois for over 18 years and is a member of ABI’s Board of Directors. Judge Wedoff was a member of the working group of the Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules that drafted the means test forms adopted by the Judicial Conference for implementation of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005. He has also testified on the new bankruptcy law before the House Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law.
